Vanessa's Personality Profile and Background.

Vanessa Owens hadn't quite decided if she was going to join the family business. Since she was a year away from finishing her MBA, she thought she had plenty of time. She was wrong. When her father, Jefferson Owens, died three years earlier, her mother, Dyan, took over Owens Transportation, which is a courier service specializing in the transportation of art and antiques. Unfortunately, Dyan did not have the business skills required and three years later, the company was nearly bankrupt. Vanessa discovered the problem and took over the management of the company while finishing her MBA. Three years later, she has now built the business back up to its previous level and is determined to grow it further through any legal means. Her mother is still has a hand in running the company, but primarily spends her time charming art gallery owners and the administrators of various museums. Dyan had always been an active fund-raiser for various arts organizations, so Vanessa has tried to "put her to work" strengthening their relationships with the museums and galleries in the metropolitan New York area.

Currently, Vanessa still lives in the family home in Scarsdale with her mother, mainly because she's been too busy to find another place and during their financial problems, it made sense. A good businesswoman, Vanessa's not sure if she wants to continue as she is or eventually tackle a different career. Regardless, she won't let the family business suffer in the process.
